A student is said to have received the chemistry theory questions on WhatsApp after which he/she crafted the answers and shared with the rest of the KCSE candidates before the exam started at 7.27 am.

The police also arrested the principal of Kiabiraa Secondary School, the exam supervisor, some of the invigilators and Chemistry teachers at the same school.

Nyamira County Commissioner Amos Mariba warned that anyone planning to cheat would face severe consequences.

Similarly, two KCSE candidates and a university student were arrested in Busia county after a school head boy unearthed a cheating ring in his school.

The senior student is said to have been making rounds when he caught the students, aged 17 and 20, using their smartphones.

According to authorities, the school management was alerted after which it was revealed that the phones contained exam material.

Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha had warned candidates, university students and teachers planning to steal in the KCSE examinations that they would be arrested and imprisoned.

“This is my last warning, if you intend to be bold enough to do this, you will be arrested and thrown into prison,” he asserted.
