Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has given out reasons why Deputy President William Ruto needs him more than ever to emerge as the 2022 presidential election winner.
Speaking during an interview at a Gikuyu Radio station on Tuesday 27 July, the former Kiambu boss asserted that no presidential candidate would get the 50%+1 votes needed to win the election single handed.
“DP Ruto cannot form the government on his own. No single candidate can marshall 50%+1, he needs me,” Kabogo reportedly stated during his interview in the morning.
The former Kiambu Governor further acknowledged that a coalition between him and the second in command would win the next presidential elections without a doubt.
Kabogo’s proposed alliance would, however, be served on him uniting the divided Mt. Kenya region and the coalition would garner at least 70% of the votes from Mt. Kenya.
Kabogo in May made public his interest in vying for the country’s top seat in the 2022 general polls and still maintained his stand in the Tuesday interview.
“There’s a vacuum in the run to become president in 2022. I want to become president. Probably I will be the best president Kenya has had since independence,” Kabogo said.
The former Kiambu boss joins a packed field of presidential candidates from the Mt. Kenya region including Murang’a Governor Mwangi Wa Iria and National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi.
