Kitui hospitals receive medicines from KEMSA

Kitui Hospitals have received a consignment of medicines from the Kenya Medical Supplies Agency (KEMSA).

The consignment was delivered to the Kitui Referral Hospital and Mwingi Referral Hospital for onward transmission to other level four hospitals and dispensaries.

Health CECM Winnie Kitetu received the consignment noting that initially there were challenges procuring medicines at KEMSA because of a backlog of orders from other counties at KEMSA.

Further, the CECM thanked Governor Charity Ngilu for her intervention to ensure that the consignment order was processed and expedited.

Dr. Kitetu indicated that the consignment was enough to meet the temporary shortages previously experienced at health facilities accross the county.

The consignment included several oxygen cylinders procured from BOC. Dr Kitetu added that more oxygen cylinders will be delivered in due course noting that because of the National shortage of oxygen, counties could not be allocated their full orders and Kitui was not an exception.
