Former President Daniel Arap Moi’s grandson, Collins Kibet has claimed that he is leaving a jobless and depressed lifestyle during a court proceeding.

On Thursday, September 9, 2021, Kibet stated that he has been suffering from depression and was recently discharged from a rehabilitation center, where he was undergoing treatment.

In his statement  the former Head of State’s grandson told the court that he only depends on friends and relatives for his survival.

“I am financially strained at the moment and [unable] to offer more than what I am offering here and the applicant, who is my immediate neighbour at home, knows this fact very well,” Kibet said.

Kibet also told the Nakuru Court that his life has been full of breakups revealing that he is a divorcee with two other young ones in the United States.

“As a result of my depression diagnosis and the resultant loss of business, my personal finances have been greatly affected to the point where I depend on the goodwill of my friends and relatives to meet my immediate needs,” Kibet told the court.

Kibet was responding to a case involving paternal responsibility where he told the court that he can only pay for health insurance for his two young ones.

This comes after Jeruto took Kibet to court in March, 2021 accusing him of abandoning his paternity responsibilities. She claimed that Kibet had neglected his two young ones aged 11 and 9 and refused to help her in taking care of them.

Gladys Jeruto Tagi in her application case before Nakuru Principal Magistrate Benjamin Limo, is demanding Ksh.1 million upkeep for their son and daughter.

However, Moi’s grandson in his response claimed that he could only afford to cater for their yearly National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) fees.

Kibet also told the court that he wants the two learners transferred to JK Primary School in Eldama Ravine, Baringo County, which is a public institution and therefore, eligible for government funding.

Kibet also denied ever marrying Jeruto stating that he was not in his right state of mind when he approached her for a relationship that led to the birth of the two minors.

Moreover, he denied ever living with Jeruto in Kenya and in Switzerland as she had earlier claimed.
