Waititu Decamps To Ruto, Now Eyes Kiambu Governor’s Seat

Former Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu is back. This time supporting the Bottom-up ideologies propagated by Deputy President William Ruto.

Since being evicted from office by Kiambu MCAs, the former Kiambu governor, also known as ‘Baba yao,’ has been absent from the public eye.

He accompanied DP Ruto in a tour of the county, announcing his intention to reclaim the seat.

“From where I am now, I shall return to Kiambu. I am with you and I am with the Deputy President of the UDA party.”

The former governor also chastised the Jubilee administration for forcibly ousting him from his position because of his close ties to Ruto.

“Many individuals have been harmed as a result of the feud between Uhuru and Ruto. “I am at peace,” the humiliated county chief remarked, “even if they removed me forcibly and without obeying the law.”

He also urged the DP to make peace with Uhuru, as the Catholic Bishops have recommended.

He is set to square out Governor James Nyoro, who took over after he was ousted.

Waititu boycotted many court hearings at the start of his corruption case. One time his attorneys claimed that the governor had tested positive for COVID-19.

Waititu is accused of corruption and misuse of office in connection with the improper allocation of Ksh. 588 million in tenders.
