Time is a healer, so goes the popular saying. However, far more often than not, the opposite is equally true, and time has a way of bringing out wounds that might try to be hidden under bandages and gauzes. Just like governor Mutua’s divorce which was presented as an amicable and civilised separation only for scandalous details to begin unfolding soon after, Jacob Ghost Mulee’s departure has tried to be sold off as a mutual parting of agreeable partners. However, slowly by slowly, interesting details are beginning to emerge.

Just to put things into context, Patanisho is a segment within the popular Radio Jambo morning show known as Gidi na Ghost Asubuhi, and is run by Gidi and the former National football team head coach, Jacob Ghost Mulee. It basically invites callers to send in problems they may be having concerning broken relationships, from romantic ones, familial, to even professional relationships. The hosts usually take it upon themselves to mediate on behalf of the caller, and seek forgiveness or understanding from the aggrieved party.

In the show, a man who had chased his wife and brought in a new wife was now finding life unbearable with the new wife, and wanted the duo to help reconcile him with his initial wife.

In a spectacular veering off the script, Ghost suddenly shot off at a tangent and began talking about old people and their new replacements.

”You know, Gidi, in life, this is oftenly how it is. You will find yourself somewhere doing something, but somehow, whoever you are doing it for doesn’t appreciate, or doesn’t even deem it worthy. Soon they get rid of you and quickly bring in your replacement. However, as soon as this happens, they begin running into problems with the replacement who apparently was supposed to be the magic bullet that solves everything. After this, they begin looking for you again, after having gotten rid of you acrimoniously”

Although all this was packaged as talk regarding the day’s Patanisho, it was pretty clear and obvious what and who Ghost was alluding to.

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) had, 24 hours earlier, named Turkish trainer Engin Firat as the new Harambee Stars head coach on a two-month contract.
