AFC leopards opened their 2021-2022 FKF Premier league season with an impressive 1-0 win against defending champions Tusker at the Thika Sub County stadium on Sunday.

Sudanese international Saad Musa lone cross range goal in the 19th minute was enough to steer a perfect start for leopards who had not trained for the last three days demanding salary arrears running into months.

Tusker acting captain Boniface Muchiri failed to level the score in the 62nd minute, after he failed to convert a penalty kick.

With a ban on signing new players, it was a performance worth praise for leopards who also lost key players including Elvis Rupia, Collins Sichenje, Clyde Senaji, Hansel Ocheing, Benjamin Ochan, John Oyemba among others.

After an impressive start, leopards assistant coach Tom ‘Gaza’ Juma said the win was important to inspire the team and the fans amid financial troubles in the club.

“I am happy because we psyched up the boys for the match and the got it right,” Said Juma, hence, calling fans and well wisher to come to their aid financially.
