Kipronoh Ronoh Takes Over ICT Authority’s CEO Roles from Katherine Getao

Kipronoh Ronoh Paul has been appointed as the acting CEO for ICT Authority.

This follows the departure of Dr. Katherine Getao, who, according to sources, is on terminal leave.

Kipronoh has been with ICT Authority for more than six years now, having started as a Director in 2015.


According to his profile on the Authority’s website, Kipronoh’s last role was the Director of Programmes and Standards.

The profile proceeds as follows:

He has held key senior positions in the past, among them: Head of ICT and Quality Management System at Kenya Urban Roads Authority and Head of ICT at Kenya Civil Aviation Authority.

He holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science from the University of Nairobi. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. at JKUAT. He also holds professional qualifications in Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) and Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).

Dr. Getao took over from John Sergon who had been acting CEO. Before the appointment, Mr. Sergon was the Director of ICT in the ICT Ministry. Sergon succeeded Robert Mugo who was also acting CEO Mugo for more than two years. Prior to Mugo’s appointment, the Authority was headed by Victor Kyalo who made a move to the Ministry of ICT as Permanent Secretary.

Dr. Katherine Getao has previously been the ICT Secretary at the Ministry of Information Communication and Technology of Kenya.

ICT Authority was established in 2013 to rationalize and streamline the management of all Government of Kenya ICT functions. The state corporation is involved with several duties that involve enforcing ICT standards in the Central and County governments.
