Southgate Recalls Tomori, Ramsdale Ahead Of World Cup Qualifiers

For the World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Hungary, England manager Gareth Southgate has recalled defender Fikayo Tomori, forward Ollie Watkins, and goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale to his team.

Phil Foden, a Manchester City midfielder, is also back following a foot injury.

Defender Harry Maguire and Trent-Alexander Arnold, the right-back, are both injured.

On Saturday, October 9th, England will travel to Andorra before hosting Hungary on Tuesday, October 12th.

Centre-back Tomori last played for England in November 2019, when he won his only international cap, after moving from Chelsea to AC Milan in the summer.

Maguire of Manchester United has a calf ailment, while Alexander-Arnold of Liverpool has a groin problem.

Watkins, an Aston Villa striker, makes his first appearance since being dropped from Southgate’s preliminary Euro 2020 team in the summer.

After being brought in due to an injury to Dean Henderson, Arsenal goalkeeper Ramsdale was part of the team that reached the final of that tournament, although he has yet to earn his first England cap. Nick Pope of Burnley has been replaced by him.
