National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi has called out ODM leader Raila Odinga to stop holding meetings in hotels.
He instead challenged Raila and other leaders seeking elective posts to go to the grassroots level and talk to wananchi as they sell their political agenda.
In an interview with K24, Muturi noted that there is a need for leaders to engage the voters from the grassroots.
“These hotel meetings will not be helpful people need to go to the grassroots, that is where the voter is, not in hotels,” Muturi said in the interview.
Muturi’s statement comes at the back of a series of meeting Raila has been holding with top leaders in various regions of the country. The ODM leader has met with leaders from the Mt.Kenya region, leaders from the Maa community, the Nyanza region, and most recently leaders from the North-Eastern part of Kenya.
The speaker also warned leaders who are not ready to be accountable for the electorates as well as not ready to lead the country by example, would be ready to go home.
“Anybody not willing to be accountable and lead by example, no matter the position, are people who should prepare to ship out,” Muturi said as reported by K24.
According to Muturi, the country cannot assume that everything is okay when corrupt leaders stealing millions of money leaving it in an unstable position.
Muturi has already declared his interest to run for the country’s presidency come next years’ general elections. He has previously stated that he is hoping to restore the country’s lost glory and pride once elected.
In the race to the State House Muturi will compete with the likes of Musalia Mudavadi, Raila Odinga, DP William Ruto, and Kalonzo Musyoka among other strong political bigwigs.
