PICTORIAL: Garbage of devolution

This is the temporary garbage site at Kabati Market, Kitui West Constituency.

The town is one of the busiest in Kitui County. The garbage accumulates every Monday and Thursday, the official market days.

The mountains of waste in the estate’s backstreets and sewer lines, as well as the Marabou storks foraging in the plastic that covers every part of Kitui.

It is however burned every Tuesday by County employees. The quick accumulation of the garbage is evidence that the town is active.
