Just days after decamping to the United Democratic Alliance, UDA, and declaring his support for DP Ruto in next year’s polls, former Kenya National Union of Teachers Secretary General Wilson Sossion has now come out to declare undying and unwavering support for the deputy president’s harshest critic, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. In a move that is expected to attract responses from vocal UDA party hawks, Wilson Sossion gave accolades to his present party boss, causing confusion about where exactly his loyalty lies.
Sossion said that his visit to Ruto only dealt with his intention to support the DP in his presidential ambition next year, but for the remainder of his parliamentary term, he remains loyal to ODM and Raila.
He declared that he is ready to take any direction or duty that may come from his party leader, and that this will be so until the expiry of his term.
Sossion was speaking this while appearing on KTN’s News Hour where he was hosted by Ken Mijungu.
He revealed that it has never been in his nature to be hypocritical or sneaky, and that this was why, through out his process of joining DP Ruto’s camp, he did everything transparently and above board. He said that his meeting with Ruto wasn’t secretive. Apparently, not only did he inform his party leader of his intentions, but in fact even sought for his permission to proceed. Nevertheless, he declined to reveal what Raila said to him after he sought this permission.
Sossion claimed that he was approached by Bomet constituents who requested him to join DP Ruto. Reportedly, they were keen on electing him as their senator but needed him to run on a UDA ticket. He also said that they were the ones who advised him to seek his party leader’s permission first, and not do things sneakily.
Just this week, Sossion announced jumping ship to DP Ruto’s UDA.
Sossion said that the next general elections will be about the bottom-up economy which is being pushed by DP Ruto.
Describing Ruto as a brave and fearless politician, the politician who was nominated to parliament by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) under the leadership of Raila Odinga said that Ruto was the best suit to take over from President Uhuru Kenyatta.
