Kenyans have reacted to the recent reports by Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) in which they plan to track down Kenyans whose social media lifestyles do not match the taxes they remit.
The KRA Commissioner-General Githii Mburu said his officers were already active on social media searching for Kenyans who post photos of nice cars and show off lavish lifestyles to ensure their taxes match the same.

This led many Kenyans on social media to react to the news with hilarious posts that showed how stunned they were by the news.
Kenyans on Twitter shared funny memes with some trolling KRA for what they believe will be a pretty difficult task.

Some of the memes showed how quick netizens were deleting photos of their 'soft life' to ensure that KRA does not get to them.
The memes also showed that KRA might track someone only to find that their lifestyle on social media was totally different from reality.
Others also depicted how the agents will be following netizens who appear to be relishing a nice lifestyle and blocking the taxman once they identify them.

Earlier, TUKO.co.ke reported that the taxman had established a team solely focused on weeding out tax cheats through popular social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat.
KRA is racing to bring more people into the tax bracket and curb tax cheating and evasion in the quest to meet targets.
Mburu attributed their recent success to commitment, giving an example of when he spots a fuel guzzler drive past him, he always asks himself if the driver has paid taxes.

Mburu warned that tax cheats risk travel bans, duty collection directly from their suppliers and bankers and prosecution in what is billed as the largest crackdown yet on high-net-worth individuals.
