Tera, Babu in Harambee Stars final squad to face Uganda

The national team Harambee Stars coach Engin Firat has named rookie Nairobi City Stars Midfielder Timothy “Babu” Ouma in the final squad for Thursday’s 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifier against Uganda.

Also named in the squad are Armenia-based Alwyn Tera and Georgia-based Amos Nondi, as well as the returning duo of Anthony Akumu and Eric Johanna.

Ouma, who has been impressive for Nairobi City Stars this season , makes the squad on his first call up to the national team while Georgia-based Nondi, former Gor Mahia midfielder Akumu and Eric Johanna also make the squad which will face Milutin “Micho” Sredojevic’s Cranes from 4pm.

The team jetted out to Entebbe on Wednesday morning and is expected to hold its final training session later in the evening ahead of Thursday’s derby.

Coach Milutin has termed the 2022 Fifa World Cup Group “E” qualifier against Kenya on Thursday as a must-win for his boys as they look to keep alive their hopes of making it to Qatar next year.

Uganda are second in the group with eight points, two less than leaders Mali who are away to Rwanda Thursday and any slip up could end their chances of challenging for the sole ticket in the group to advance to the final round of qualification.

Kenya and Rwanda, on two points and one point respectively, are out of the reckoning for Qatar 2022.
