Kanu party leader Gideon Moi has insisted that his party will do anything possible to see the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) unite with President Uhuru Kenyatta and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga ahead of the 2022 General Elections.

Kanu said that they are pushing for OKA to have a Nasa-like union, something similar that was witnessed during the push for the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).

“We want the unity witnessed during the BBI process and ask our colleagues to look beyond their interests and put the nation ahead,”  Kanu Secretary-General Nick Salat told a local daily.

The push by Kanu has however been met with great opposition from other members of OKA more so from Musalia Mudavadi-led party ANC.

ANC claims that Kanu has become the alliance’s weakest link and it needs to make up its mind fast and quick on whether it wants to stay with them or join Raila’s side.

“Recently you heard Senator Gideon Moi say we are working with Raila. OKA is strong if it remains intact. You weaken the coalition the moment you start thinking we will be a branch of Raila. You weaken our entire program and coalition,” Senator Malala, a member of the ANC party, said in an interview with a local TV station.

Malala said that ANC is not ready to join Raila describing the reunion as “walking back into an abusive marriage.
