Infinix Zero X Pro Camera Review: Absolute Champ!

Infinix Zero X Pro Triple 108MP camera setup

Infinix really went big with its premium flagship device – the Infinix Zero X Pro. This is not only evident in the camera department but in other aspects of the phone which we’ve delved into our first look review.

We now have a 6.67″ AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, a Helio G95 processor and a Mali G76 GPU coupled with 8GB of RAM(3GB extended RAM) and 256GB of onboard storage. We also have a 4500mAh battery and a 45W fast charger.

Infinix Zero X Pro brings the real shakeup with its cameras.

We have autofocus on all three cameras – main, telephoto and ultra-wide. The main camera and the telephoto also sport OIS(optical image stabilisation). Video gets EIS(electronic image stabilization).

We have a 108MP main lens coupled with an 8MP ultrawide and 8MP periscope lens(5X lossless zoom and 60X digital zoom)

At the front is a 16MP selfie camera.

There are twelve modes to play around which includes Google Lens.

Modes range from AI cam(default), 108MP mode, Beauty, Bokeh, SuperNight, Video, Slow Motion, Pro, Panorama, SuperMoon, Video SuperMacro, TimeLapse, and Documents.

Video can be shot at 4K 30fps, 1080P at either 60 or 30fps and 720P at 30fps. Both Bokeh video and Ultra Steady mode can be shot at 1080p at 30fps.

4K video really looks well for posting on YouTube, Instagram reels or TikTok(when downscaled to 1080p as TikTok doesn’t support 4K uploads yet)

Ultra steady videos also look really good for action shots.

Lowlight video recording is also impressive. This is the phone you’ll be happy to have when recording those special moments alone or with your friends or loved ones.

Selfies & Portraits

Infinix 16MP selfie camera though a downgrade from the 48MP dual setup on its predecessor took really good selfies perfect for sharing on social media. I loved the portraits too. The latter struggles though when it comes to background exposure as you’ll see below.

Lowlight shots turned out way better than I was expecting. I highly recommend using super night mode when taking selfies in lowlight – I preferred this mode as it’s more natural and Insta-friendly too.

Regular shots – Including Ultra-wide shots

I loved the main camera and the shots it took – they all turned out pretty well. Detailed and natural-looking images with a soft bokeh effect which is always welcome for up-close objects.

Dynamic range is strong and in good lighting, I was getting balanced, sharp, contrasty and colourful shots ready to go to my Instagram and Twitter feed.

Lowlight and Night mode shots

Infinix Zero X Pro also flexes when the sun goes down. It didn’t flinch when it came to low light focusing and it was a delightful experience shooting at night.

Photos came out with decent details, minimal noise and natural bright points. SuperNight mode takes lowlight photography to another level. You’ll definitely be impressed by its performance just as I did.

Infinix Zero X Pro also takes night photography to new heights, pun intended, with the new SuperMoon mode that takes advantage of that 60X digital zoom to take shots of earth’s closest space neighbour.

And the shots are pretty spectacular. You can see the smooth and dark spots on the moon(Maria) and the white terrae(highlands).

Verdict

Infinix Zero X Pro camera performance is stellar – pun intended and not just because it can really good shots of the Moon but also regular photos both during the day and in low lit scenarios – which makes it miles better than its predecessor.

The Infinix Zero X Pro handles photography like an absolute champ! The upgraded hardware takes advantage of all that software mastery to produce results that are not only a huge improvement over last year’s Zero 8 but also makes the phone a worthy contender among its peers.
