United States Of America President Joe Bidden on Wednesday nominated Former Hewlett Packard (HP) CEO Margaret C. Whitman as the country’s ambassador to Kenya.

If the Senate approves her,  Ms. Whitman, born in August 1956, will replace Kyle McCarter who resigned following the end of the Donald Trump administration on January 20, 2021.

“Margaret C. Whitman (Meg), a business executive and former candidate for Governor of California, is a Member of the Board of Procter & Gamble and General Motors, and National Board Chair at Teach for America,” White House said.

She was a senior member of Mitt Romney’s presidential campaigns in both 2008 and 2012 and ran for governor of California as a Republican in 2010, but supported Hillary Clinton in the 2016 General Election.

Last year, she gave $500,000 to the Biden Victory Fund, a joint fundraising committee that benefited the Biden campaign and the Democratic National Committee.

Before she ran Hewlett-Packard, Whitman was the CEO of e-commerce giant eBay. Whitman eventually became the CEO of Quibi, a short-lived, short-form video platform that was founded by Hollywood executive Jeffrey Katzenberg.
