Nakuru County Governor Lee Kinyanjui has officially declared he will be seeking a second term in the 2022 general election.
Lee, who was elected on a jubilee party ticket, will not defend the seat with the party anymore.
But he has will be going to the electorate with a new party, Ubuntu People Forum, UPF party.
I will seek re-election for the Nakuru Governor seat on the UPF ticket
UPF was formerly known as the Citizens Convention Party (CCP) before the name was changed to Ubuntu People Forum, UPF
UPF’s leadership comprises Samuel Kinya Rukahu as the party leader, Beatrice Nyawira Wambugu as Chairperson, and Njoroge Gichuhi as its Secretary-General.
Kinyanjui is believed to be the owner of UPF and the party will be supporting ODM leader Raila Odinga’s candidature in the 2022 elections.
The decision to defend his seat has slightly dealt a blow to Mr. Odinga as it was highly believed Kinyanjui would deputize the former premier.
Lee has been a big pillar for Raila Odinga in the larger mount Kenya region and he is among those leading the campaign for ODM leader as he tries To ”climb” the mountain.
Lee Kinyanjui will be battling out with Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika who will be seeking the mandate of the people on a United Democratic Party (UDA) Ticket.
