Firebrand Rift Valley Regional Commissioner George Natembeya now says the construction of the Lanet police station In Bahati Constituency, Nakuru County did not follow the requisite lay down procedure during its construction and handing over.

He said no police officers were invited to the handing-over ceremony. Also missing in action was the regional police commander, County Police commander, and the Officer Commanding the Police Division (OCPD).

“No police officer was in that place by invitation, but you see when the Deputy President visits our area, we are usually given his program to provide security, so all the officers who were there had gone to provide him security not to receive the police station,” Natembeya said.

The station was being constructed to replace an existing wooden structure housing the security installation.

The station was funded through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) under the patronage of Bahati MP Onesmus  Kimani Ngunjiri.

Natembeya has However downplayed reports that the police officers pulled down the DP’s plaque, claiming it’s  Ruto’s own supporters who might have done it.

Natembeya has also cautioned politicians from politicizing security in the country.

“We should not personalize facilities like those ones… those are the complications that we are now trying to investigate, what really happened, who wanted to sabotage it, is there any local politics involved? In the fullness of time we will know who was behind.”
