Kirinyaga woman who reportedly stabbed to death her husband who was the current assistant chief for Kiamugumo sub-location will take plea for his murder on 4th January 2022.
Jedidah Wanja Njeru could not take the plea on Wednesday afternoon as there was no judge on duty at the Kerugoya Law Courts
The prosecution led by the state counsel Beatrice Muthoni informed the area principal magistrate Eric Wambo that there was no judge on duty for the accused to take a plea.
Wanja who appeared in court dressed in a black hooded pullover covering her head and face partially save for a blue face mask and black trousers did not show any signs of being ruffled.
Her lawyer Kemunto Magara of Bonwonga and co advocates however applied for a review of the Embu remand prison condition where Wambo had ordered she be remanded earlier on till the date for the plea.
The lawyer told the court it would be cumbersome for Wanja’s relatives to be traveling to Embu to visit her when she could still be detained at Kirinyaga police station which is closer to her home.
Wanja has been charged that on 15th Dec at Kiamugumo village, in Gachugu sub-county, she murdered Denis Magu Njeri. Njeru, 36 who was the son of Kirinyaga County assembly nominated MCA Wanjiru Njeru.
Njerus body was interred on 23rd of December 2021 at his father’s home in the area with the suspected absence since she had already been taken into custody by police.
Jedidah Wanja will be remanded at the Kianyaga police station until 4th January 2021.
