Real Betis received Sevilla FC in the round of 16 of the Copa del Rey. With the score at 1-1, the game was called off after visitors’ midfielder Joan Jordan was hit with an iron bar from the Benito Villamarin stands. The referee therefore decided to send the 22 actors back to their respective locker rooms before giving any news of the player.
The Spanish federation has announced that the meeting has been officially suspended and the match will therefore not resume. “The RFEF condemns any act of violence on playgrounds”, can we read in this press release.
