Dr Paula Kahumbu joins NatGeo Board of Trustees

Dr Paula Kahumbu, a renowned conservationist has joined the board of trustees of the National Geographic Society.

Dr. Kahumbu is a multi-award winning Kenyan wildlife conservationist and CEO of the WildlifeDirect.

She leads the highly successful Hands Off Our Elephants campaign which aims to restore Kenyan leadership in elephant conservation.

Dr Paula Kahumbu becomes the first Kenyan to sit on this board and joins Strive Masiyiwa, a Zimbabwean who joined the same board in 2019.

” The new appointees are’distinguished leaders’ whose global expertise and knowledge will prove invaluable as we continue to our ambitious mission to illuminate and protect the wonder of our world by using the power of science, exploration, education and storytelling,” said Jean Case, Chair of the Board at NatGeo.

For more than 130 years, the National Geographic Society has funded the best and brightest individuals dedicated to scientific discovery and understanding of our world.

Its historic commitment to dauntless exploration dates back to 1888 when 33 prominent scholars and scientists established an organization dedicated to the “increase and diffusion of knowledge.”

Today, National Geographic Explorers are continuing to push the boundaries of knowledge, uncovering new insights about the natural and cultural worlds, and strengthening our connection to them and one another.
