According to the English newspaper The Telegraph, Sevilla FC and Newcastle would negotiate for a transfer of Diego Carlos this winter. The Magpies who are “optimists” for this operation, as the newspaper reports, hope that the transfer will be completed this week. There are reportedly still negotiations over the player’s price but it seems that the centre-back wants to leave Andalusia.
The 28-year-old Brazilian, who is with the Sevillian club until June 2024, is one of the key players in Julen Lopetegui’s squad. Diego Carlos has always played when he was available this season, he notably played in all the Champions League matches. The defender had already been announced for several days as one of Newcastle’s priorities for this winter transfer window, he would be the second recruit from La Liga this winter after the signing of Kieran Trippier from Atlético Madrid.
