Tea Auction Records Slight Fall in Prices at 2nd Auction

The weekly Mombasa Tea Auction held on 10th, 11th and 12th January 2022 had 12.8 million kilograms of tea offered for sale. The amount on offer slightly increased from 12.7 million kilograms during the previous sale, and from 11.2 million kilograms during a similar period last year.

Of all the tea offered for sale, 11.2 million kilograms were sold, which was similar as during the previous sale, but increased from 10.2 million kilograms during the same period last year.

The tea auction recorded a decrease in prices, with a kilogram selling at an average price of $2.42, compared to $2.44 during the previous sale held on 3rd, 4th, and 5th January 2022, but increase from $1.97 during the same period last year.
