You’re de facto co-president, DP! Wetang’ula tells Raila to fulfil pledges now

Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula has urged ODM leader Raila Odinga to reduce the cost of living now saying he is the de facto co-president and deputy president of Kenya.

Speaking in Bahati, Nakuru county, on Saturday where the Kenya Kwanza Alliance held a series of political rallies, Wetang’ula said Raila should not be making promises at a time when he has powers to make a difference.

“We heard the other day Raila saying that if he is elected, he will lower the costs of fertilizer and food. You Mr Raila Odinga, you are in fact the de facto co-president of the Republic of Kenya,” Wetang’ula said.

“You are the de facto deputy President of Kenya.  If your are going to help Kenyans, do it now because you are in power.”

Sentiments shared by Wetang’ula come in the wake of claims by Ruto allies that the DP was locked of government and should therefore not be blamed for the high cost of living and other failures.

The March 9, 2018 Handshake deal between the Raila and President Uhuru Kenyatta has been weaponized to fight the ODM leader’s bid.

Ruto has been candid in saying he was locked out of the government by the Handshake.

The DP faulted the  Handshake for dragging the Jubilee government development agenda saying it hampered the delivery of key development projects.

The same DP, however, has been taking credit for development projects that have been a success even after the Handshake saying he took part in the planning.
