Police are in search of a KCSE candidate who escaped from an exam centre in Mogotio, Baringo County.
Kennedy Ruto of Radat Secondary School escaped school on Wednesday to get exam answers to the Agriculture paper that was due.
The candidate is said to have put on civilian clothes to conceal his uniform and jumped over the school fence to a neighbouring compound.
Detectives at the examination centre noticed the incident and pursued them.
A report by DCI says Ruto and two other unknown persons, who were conversing in low tones, scampered in different directions when they discovered that detectives were after them.
They left behind a mobile phone that contained a replica of the Geography and Physics papers administered on Tuesday and the Agriculture paper the students took on Wednesday.
DCI say the manhunt for the suspect is on course and that detectives based at the forensic cyber and digital laboratory have joined the operation.
Meanwhile, police in Nairobi on Thursday arraigned four suspects of a syndicate dubbed ‘Bailing out’ and the ‘Kalee’ group who were arrested two weeks ago at the Milimani Law Courts.
Gideon Tanui, Kevin Kiprotich, Justice Leting and James Obongo had masterminded examination fraud in social media groups with their followers buying examination papers and answers.
They pleaded not guilty and were released on a cash bail of Sh 300,000 and a bond of Sh 500,000 each with a surety.
Police have reported that in a countrywide search for exam malpractices, other suspects were rounded up in Mbita, Garbatula and Turkana, where over 60 mobile phones were confiscated.
The phones are currently in the forensics unit for analysis.
