NSE Equity Turnover drops 12.5% to KSh 210M

The Nairobi Securities Exchange(NSE) recorded a slight decline in Daily Equity Turnover to KSh 210 Million this Wednesday compared to KSh 241 Million yesterday, a fall of 12.5%.

The number of shares traded stood at 7.5 Million from the previous trading session’s 7.4 Million.

The Banking Sector continued to dominate activity at the bourse and moved shares worth KSh 113Million transacted which accounted for 53.92% of the day’s traded value.

Equity Group Holdings actively moved 1.1Million shares valued at KSh57Million at between KSh 49.20 and KSh 50.00. BK Group moved 1.1Million shares valued at KSh34Million and closed at KSh30.00. KCB Group remained steady at KSh43.30 with shares worth KSh14Million transacted.

Safaricom was the NSE day’s main feature with 2.5Million shares valued at KSh 89Million changing hands at between KSh34.90 and KSh 35.50.; this represented 42.53% of the day’s traded value.

The top price gainer was Fahari I-REIT which appreciated by 8.64% from KSh 6.02 to KSh 6.54 while the worst performer was Uchumi which fell by 10% from KSh 0.20 to KSh 0.18.

The Derivatives Market registered activity in the Equity Single Stock Futures contract expiring in 16th June 2022, trading 13 contracts valued at KSh663,000 at a price of KSh 51.00. This is against a closing price of KSh49.80 posted by Equity in the spot market.

The Secondary Bonds market had bonds worth KSh4.86Billion transacted.
