NSE Equity Turnover Dips 42.4% to KSh 411.1M

The Nairobi Securities Exchange(NSE) recorded a 42% fall in daily equity turnover to KSh 411.1 Million this Wednesday.

This is compared to an equity turnover of KSh 713.6 Million posted at the end of the previous trading session.

The volume of shares moved at the NSE also declined to 11.8 Million compared to 20.5 Million shares at the close of trading this Tuesday.

All indices were up, including the NSE All-Share Index(NASI), which was up 2.02 to close at 158.52, while the NSE 20 Share Index was up 3.61 points to close at 1860.99. The NSE 25 share gained 28.90 points to close at 3587.55.

The day’s top gainer was Sameer Africa Plc, whose share price rose 8.23% from KSh 2.31 to KSh 2.50 and sold 100 shares.

The worst performing counter was Kapchorua Tea Kenya Limited, whose share price declined 9.52% to KSh 90.25 from KSh 99.75 and sold 12,900 shares.

Trading in the secondary bonds market had a turnover of KSh 5.7 Billion from 125 deals against a turnover of KSh 5.4 Billion from 124 deals at the previous session.

The Derivatives market had 28 contracts worth KSh 981,000 in the Safaricom single stock futures expiring on 16th June 2022 concluded, at a price of KSh 35.03. This compared to 3 contracts worth KSh 105,000 the previous session and closing price of KSh 35.45 posted by Safaricom in the spot market.

The Banking sector had shares worth KSh 34 Million transacted, which accounted for 8.28% of the day’s traded value
