NSE Daily Equity Turnover Declines 65.7% to KSh 184M

The Nairobi Securities Exchange(NSE) recorded a decline in equity turnover to KSh 184 million this Tuesday compared to KSh 538 million this Monday, a decline of 66%.

The Derivatives Market had 11 contracts valued at KSh 326,000 transacted. The Safaricom Single Stock futures contract expiring on 16th June 2022 traded 10 contracts valued at KSh 290,000 at KSh 29.00. This is against Safaricom’s closing price of KSh 30.45 in the spot market.

The benchmark NSE 20 Share Index lost 7.27 points to 1737.09, while the All Share Index(NASI) was up 0.38 points to 140.05. The NSE 25 Share Index added 10.37 points to stand at 3215.39.

The top price gainer was Uchumi which was up 5.26% from KSh 0.19 to KSh 0.20, while the worst performer was Nairobi Business Ventures which declined 9.045 from KSh 3.87 to KSh 3.52.

The Banking Sector had shares worth KSh 16.9 million, which accounted for 9.16% of the day’s traded value. Equity holdings sold 90,000 shares valued at KSh 4 Million between KSh 45.55 and KSh 46.50.

NCBA was down 1.51% to KSh 26.10 and moved 155,000 shares valued at KSh 4 Million. SCBK moved 26,000 shares valued at KSh 3.3 Million and closed at KSh 124.50.

Safaricom was the day’s main feature, with 5.2 Million shares valued at KSh 158 Million changing hands between KSh 30.10 and KSh 30.55, accounting for 85.95% of the day’s traded value.

The Bond market had bonds worth KSh 4.1 billion transacted.
