OPPO Reno7 5G Gets Android 12 Update in Kenya

OPPO Reno7 5G

OPPO Reno7 5G was launched late last month in the country together with its sibling, the OPPO Reno7 4G. You can read our full review here and watch our comparison review between the two below.

OPPO Reno7 5G was a fantastic device at launch but lacked one feature the OPPO Reno7 4G and its other siblings had – Android 12.

OPPO Reno7 5G shipped with Android 11 and ColorOS 12 straight out of the box and we hoped OPPO would have sent the update fast enough.

The Company has now sent the Android 12 and ColorOS 12.1 update to the OPPO Reno7 5G in Kenya. It’s a big update – sitting at 1.74GB(H/T Nick Kanali on Twitter).

How To Get The Update

To get the update, head to Settings, and scroll to Software Update. If the update is available for your phone, a notification will pop up asking you to download and update.

ColorOS 12 brings a new inclusive UI, smoother performance, and rich features and comes packed with softer icons and animations.

ColorOS 12 ships with features from Android 12 including new quick tiles, new widgets, improved one-handed mode, notification settings, visual overhaul, and new app pairs for split-screen and privacy improvements.

OPPO adds that ColorOS 12 has an average of 30% lower memory occupation and 20% lower battery consumption.

Other features get upgraded including PC Connect, 3-Finger Translate powered by Google Lens, FlexDrop, Private System, Private Safe, App Lock, App Cloner and Phone Manager.

OPPO Reno7 5G now joins its siblings the OPPO Reno7 4GReno5 FReno5 and Reno6 5G that run on Android 12.

Other features OPPO Reno7 5G comes with include:

  • MediaTek Dimensity 900 5G processor and Mali-G68 MC4 GPU paired with 8GB RAM(plus 5GB virtual RAM) and 256GB of onboard storage(UFS 2.2).
  • 6.43″ 90hz AMOLED screen that also supports HDR10+.
  • 64MP triple setup as well but with an 8MP ultrawide lens and a 2MP macro sensor.
  • 32MP selfie camera.
  • 4500mAH battery and supports 65W fast charging.
