NSE Weekly Equity Turnover Falls 44.99% to KSh 2,326.78M

NSE Equity Turnover fell by 44.99% to KSh 2,326.78m from KSh 4,229.40m in the preceding week. The bonds market decreased by 25.82% to close the week at KSh 10,653.74m from KSh14,362.51m in the previous week.

The NSE weekly barometer indicates that the NSE 20-share Index closed last week higher at 1,699.83 points, a 0.71% increase from the preceding week’s figure of 1,687.81 points.

Equally, the All-share index decreased by 0.33% to close the week at 129.41 points from the previous week’s figure of 129.84 points.

The NSE 25 Share Index decreased by 0.02% to close last week at 3,066.15 points from the previous week’s figure of 3,066.72 points.

Moreover, NSE Market Capitalization closed last week at KSh 2,016.43 Billion, a 0.33% decrease from the previous week’s KSh 2,023.07 Billion.

The volume of equity traded decreased by 37.02% to close last week at 69.61m, compared to 110.53m recorded the previous week.

During the week ended June 3rd 2022, the total market turnover of the top 5 companies was KSh. 2,209.23m, accounting for 94.95% of total turnover at the bourse.

By market turnover, the top five performing counters were Safaricom, Equity, Gold ETF, KCB, and EABL. The Top Five’s Total Turnover as a proportion of total market turnover decreased by 3.52% from 91.43% recorded the previous week.

Between May 30th and June 3rd 2022, there was a net outflow of KSh 632.41m during the week, from the previous week’s outflow of KSh1,658.39m.

The derivatives market closed last week with 36 contracts valued at KSh 572,000.

NBV was last week’s top price gainer, rising by 36.56% to KSh 4.37, while the top loser was coop bank which fell 8.37% to KSh 10.95
