“I have spearheaded the preparation of these reports and bear full responsibility for their accuracy. I will remain available in case of any clarification,” Kibicho remarked.

Having served in office for seven years, the former PS assured Omollo that he would steer clear from the ministry to allow him to execute his mandate but would be available for consultation.

“I want to commit to you that I will not interfere with your staff. You are now the one in charge but that does not mean we cannot have a cup of tea,” he stated.

On his part, PS Omollo expressed gratitude to Kibicho and promised to maintain the exemplary service of his predecessor. He also thanked the staff for helping him prepare for vetting.

“What he is handing over to me is a robust state department that has achieved a lot all over the country and the challenge is to take it to the next level.

“We sat in this building a few weeks ago and you were able to take me through some of the important things I needed to know before appearing to before parliament,” Omollo remarked.

The new PS urged all workers to form cordial relations with their colleagues so to bolster service delivery.

Kibicho, who worked under former Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i was a thorn in the flesh of the then Deputy President William Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza brigade in the run up to the August 2022 elections.

Ruto accused Kibicho of being behind the deep state that was hellbent to edge out Kenya Kwanza and install Azimio leader Raila Odinga as President.

The new PS will work with colleagues Mary Muthoni Muriuki and Julius Bitok in Interior Ministry headed by CS Prof Kithure Kindiki.
