Detectives are investigating the discovery of a body in a borehole in Kiambu County.

The body was discovered in a borehole in the Mifereli area, Kiambaa.

Police and villagers said a man was cleaning the 110 feet deep borehole that has been in use but was running low in water levels when he discovered a decomposing body therein.

Police said the man was later identified as Bernard Njuguna, 30 who went missing two months ago.

The discovery of the body was made on Tuesday afternoon and shocked many locals who had been using the water from the borehole for domestic purposes.

The mother of the deceased told police he had been suffering from depression for long and that he went missing in October.

It is not clear if he died by suicide and was thrown therein or fell by accident.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending probe.
