Police are investigating an incident in which a minor was defiled before being murdered in the Kikuyu area, Kiambu County

The girl was found strangled outside their house.

The mother of the child told police the incident happened on December 1 while she was busy in her house.

The woman said she was attending to house chores and had left her 10-year-old girl playing outside their house with a rope.

But when she went out a few minutes later she found her strangled with the same rope she was playing with behind the house.

She raised alarm and locals responded before rushing her to the hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

The woman wanted to bury the deceased and later went to seek for burial permit at the local chief’s camp where she was directed to report the matter to the police.

It was then that a postmortem was conducted days later and established the minor was defiled before being strangled.

The exercise was conducted on Wednesday at a hospital in Kikuyu, which prompted the new probe of murder and defilement.

The motive of the incident and those behind are yet to be known but a team of detectives is investigating.
