The government will work with institutions of higher learning to strengthen Kenya’s resilience against future threats.

President William Ruto said it was time the country re-invented itself in the wake of rare disruptions such as climate change and COVID-19.

He noted that the government was keen on developing appropriate innovations that will help in the pre-warning and countering of such turbulent occurrences.

“It is our crucial mandate to establish a sustainable capacity as a nation and face the future with confidence despite the knowledge that adverse events, many beyond our control, confront us.”

President Ruto spoke on Friday at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, Kakamega County, during the 18th graduation ceremony.

He said the Government will adopt scientific techniques, scholarly discipline, and modern technology to find solutions to challenges facing Kenyans.

He also asked universities to seek strategic collaboration with partners to advance their research capacity.
