A 38-year-old man died after he was hit by a stone in a quarry where he was working in the Mwiki area, Nairobi.

John Gitau was in the company of ten other men working deep in the quarry excavating building stones when a huge stone caved on him.

The incident happened Tuesday, December 13 in the evening as the workers raced to make the final coins of the day.

The worker said he was in a section of the quarry alone when the wall caved on him.

They came to realize he was unresponsive and missing as they left the site late in the evening.

The workers said they went back to the site and found his lifeless body there before they retrieved it.

The quarry is a working site for dozens of workers who earn a living.

A stone is sold at Sh20 at the site.

The body was moved to the mortuary.
