An oil tanker has been involved in a serious accident along the Nairobi-Thika-Nyeri Road (A2) near Thika town, at Blue Post Hotel.
It occurred on Wednesday, December 14 early morning.
The area police conducted rescue operations accident forcing the road to be completely blocked. It is however uncertain how many people have been injured in the accident.
Motorists are urged to exercise caution and patience as the operations continue.

From the photos shared by the Kenya National Highway Authorities (KeNHA), the tanker had collided with a lorry that was pushed to the side of the road.
Oil from the tanker had also spilled on the busy Nairobi-Thika-Nyeri Road.
Following the crash, guard rails on the road have also been damaged as relevant authorities continue to assess the situation. Car parts were also scattered along the road hindering any movement from both sides.
Area residents were at the scene of the accident to help rescue those involved in the crash.
KeNHA has urged motorists to observe Road discipline during this festive season.
