67 countries worldwide, majorly in Africa and middle East criminalize consensual same-sex sexual activity, 11 of which can or do impose the death penalty, according to The Human Dignity Trust.
The Pope called on catholic bishops who support the law against homosexuality, to welcome members of LGBTQ community to church.
Pope Francis declared laws that criminalize homosexuality as unjust and said the Catholic church should work and put an end to them.
He referred to the issue of homosexuality as a sin adding that bishops who discriminate against members of LGBTQ community due to cultural background, should change and apply tenderness as God has for each of us.
“These bishops have to have a process of conversion, they should apply tenderness, please, as God has for each one of us.”
