If approved, he will join the commission as a non-member of parliament who represents the public for a period of five years.

Muthama is poised to replace Samuel Chepkonga- who resigned from the commission to reclaim the Ainabkoi parliamentary seat.

If his nomination is approved in Parliament, Muthama will join seven members who were sworn in on November 10, 2022.

The seven included Likoni MP Mishi Mboko (ODM), Nyali MP Mohamed Ali (UDA), Nyandarua Woman Representative Faith Gitau (UDA) and Laikipia Senator John Kinyua (UDA).

Others included are Nyamira Senator Okong’o Omogeni (ODM), Mavoko MP Patrick Makau (Wiper) and Nominated Senator Joyce Korir (UDA).

During the vetting process, Muthama informed the commission that he was the right fit for the job owing to his former role in Parliament.

“I believe I have the necessary experience to serve as a member of the Parliamentary Service Commission with being a Member of Parliament for a long time prepared me adequately,” Muthama remarked at the time.

The commission’s work involves ensuring the smooth running of both Houses of Parliament, the Senate, and the National Assembly.
