ZAMBIA – Zambeef Products PLC, the largest beef-producing company in Zambia, has appointed Ezekiel Sekele as its Executive of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability.
Mr Sekele has a master’s degree in Commerce in Development Finance from the University of Cape Town, and an MBA from Oxford Brookes University in the UK.
He is an associate of the Chartered Governance Professional with a post-qualifying diploma in Corporate Governance.
Before this appointment, Ezekiel Sekele served as the Director of Corporate Affairs of Zambian Breweries, which is part of Belgium-based multination brewing giant AB InBev Group.
He has also previously held positions in several multinational organisations such as Deloitte & Touche, the Commonwealth Development Company (CDC) at Mpongwe Development Company, and SABMiller Mozambique (CDM).
Mr Sekele is also the immediate past President of the Zambia Association of Manufacturers (ZAM) and has sat on the Zambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ZACCI) board.
Zambeef intends to leverage Sekele’s over 20 years of experience in senior management positions with Zambeef’s CEO Faith Mukutu expressing the company’s excitement to welcome him.
“We are confident that his vast experience and skills will be an invaluable asset to our overall business and sustainability ambitions going forward,” she said.
According to the company, its talented team and progressive business model are what helped it grow into one of the biggest and most recognizable brands in Zambia.
“It is a great honor to be joining a company with such a rich legacy in Zambia’s food processing industry,” said Sekele.
“As the local and regional food industry continues to evolve, I look forward to playing my role as we pursue new and sustainable growth opportunities both locally and abroad.”
At the end of last year, the company also named Mr M’boo Mumba the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the Company, effective 1st December 2022.
M’boo also became a Director of Zambeef and joined the Board after his satisfactory completion of the required AIM regulatory due diligence.
He joined Zambeef in May 2020 as Project Manager before he took up the role of Group Head of Treasury and Administration, bringing with him extensive experience in industry, financial and banking spanning more than 16 years.
Zambeef has also been on a mission to revamp its retail division, as part of its efforts to expand its product range and provide locally produced goods.
Their latest development in this move was the recent opening of its newly renovated mini macro outlet in Livingstone, which intends to stock supplementary products such as rice, and fish sourced from local companies in the country.
Zambeef is the largest integrated cold chain food products and agribusiness company in Zambia and one of the largest in the Southern Africa region, employing around 7,082 people.
