Truth Behind Ruto Appointing Peter Kenneth to State Job

-
On Saturday, February 25, multiple reports alleged that former Assistant Minister of Finance Peter Kenneth was appointed to a state corporation.
One of the reports alleged that President William Ruto appointed him to the Board of Directors of the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC).
However, a fact check by Kenyans.co.ke established that the Azimio La Umoja politician was not rewarded with any state jobs as alleged.
Instead, President William Ruto appointed Peter Kenneth Kimani to the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation board. The two personalities share names, explaining the confusion that ensued.

In the Gazette Notice dated Friday, February 24, Cabinet Secretary for Energy and Petroleum Davis Chirchir stated that Kimani was appointed to form part of the leadership of REREC.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 45 (1) (e) and (f) of the Energy Act, as read together with section 51 (1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Energy and Petroleum appoints Peter Kenneth Kimani to the Board of Directors of the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation, for three years, with effect from February 24, 2023,” Chirchir explained.
One publication that shared the report claiming that Peter Kenneth of Azimio was appointed to the government apologised .
“Apology: We earlier published a story saying former Gatanga Member of Parliament Peter Kenneth has been appointed Board member of the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation by Energy CS Davis Chirchir.
“We have since established that the appointee is not the former MP of Gatanga. We apologise for the error,” an excerpt of the statement read.
Peter Kenneth, the former Gatanga Member of Parliament Peter Kenneth, has maintained his silence since campaigning for Raila Odinga as Azimio La Umoja’s Presidential Candidate.
He has hardly been seen publicly since Raila lost the August 2022 General Election election to President William Ruto.
Meanwhile, Chirchir also appointed Mark Nderitu Muturi, Milton Luchiri and Sammy Choge to the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC).
In the same Gazette Notice, he revoked the appointment of Brig. Hassan Sora, Rhoda Njuguna, Wahome Gitonga and Mary Mwiti.
Jane Gatwiri Gatobu, Michael Maloba, Ashif Kassam and Mercylinne Chepkirui were further appointed as new board members of Kenya Electricity Transmission Company Limited for three years.
