Soon enough luck came knocking on her door after she was called to Nairobi by her cousin for a job at a mobile spare shop.

Damaris recalls it as her first time in the city. She secured a job at Luthuli Avenue but her joy was short-lived and the company went broke. However, she did not give up and soon enough she found a new job at Munyu road.

It was at this new job that she learned everything about selling, buying, and getting supplies from overseas and developed a strong passion for the business.

After learning everything about the business, she resigned from her work in 2016 and went ahead to establish her own business.

She searched for a shop and imported her first batch of mobile spare parts from Dubai since she had already gotten the necessary contacts from her previous job.

She explains that at first her small imports were not able to meet the market demand and was forced to source goods from a local supplier.

“I would buy from the local supplier to meet the customer demand and they would sell me at a fair price getting very minimal profit margin that allowed me to maintain my customers,” commented Dama.

Dama revealed that the job got better since it was fast-paced and after 6 months she opened a new branch of her business.

She comments that she has employed over 100 people at her shops and attributes her success to God-given wisdom.

“I manage all my business operations at a personal level but I don’t have any prior education in sales it is the wisdom from God that I’m here today,” she explained.

She also highlighted that customer satisfaction and adapting to the ever-changing trends in business are key to the success of any business.
