Starlets to play Albania in international friendly match – Capital Sports

NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 24 – KCB FC assistant coach Geoffrey ‘Solo’ Odhiambo has been handed over the role of head coach of the national women’s football team Harambee Starlets and will lead the team to an international friendly against Albania.
Starlets have landed an invitation to play Albania away from home next month, in what will be their first international involvement since 2021.
Odhiambo was assistant to former coach Charles Okere, who according to sources, turned down an invite to return, instead choosing to concentrate on his role as the head coach of Tusker’s Youth team.
Odhiambo will be assisted by Mildred Cheche, who was also in the technical bench during Okere’s tenure.
Starlets’ last match was a Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Sudan which they won. They were not allowed to play their last qualifier against Uganda, due to Kenya’s suspension by world governing body FIFA.
Odhiambo will name his maiden squad to report to camp on March 30, train for a week then depart for Albania on April 8.
