A 25 year old man from Shinyalu Constituency Kakamega County hacked his father to death on Monday over a dispute revolving around a dead pig.
According to the family, the dispute began when the suspect was involved in a heated exchange with the grandmother over the pig that had initially died, prompting the father to step in, in a bid to calm the situation.
The family revealed that the victim inflicted injuries on his father aged 49, by hacking him with a machete before escaping to avoid arrest and wrath of the community.
‘’The father came home and overheard commotions within the homestead and that’s when he moved in to try to calm the situation before he was met by the angry son,’’ the family narrated to the media.

The victim’s wife revealed that they tried stopping the deceased from confronting the son since he was drunk, but he insisted.
The suspect’s wife added that it was the simmering tension that then left the suspect shouting while confronting the grandmother whom he lived with, prompting his father to step in.
The victim’s mother told journalists that the suspect had a tendency of being violent in the past which he often resorted to when handling disputes within the family.
She added that it was until when she heard the grandmother telling the suspect that he had committed murder and upon seeing what had happened, she could not believe the shock.
‘’When I came out of the house, all I could hear was, you have killed your father, you have killed,’’ the suspect’s mother narrated.
The grandmother, who raised the alarm about the incident, revealed that the victim’s father asked his son to stop his constant behavior of harassing his grandmother.
‘’He had a machete, he claimed that his pig had died and accused me of killing his pig,’’ the dejected grandmother told journalists.
The family claimed that the suspect was a notorious bhang addict who preferred on most occasions to stay away from home.
The victim is however wanted by the police in connection to the murder. The deceased’s body was transffered to Kakamega Hospital County Referral mortuary awaiting a postmortem examination.
