Payments services provider, Africhange, has launched operations in the United Kingdom seeking to capitalize on the rising demand for a convenient remittances platform in the UK-Nigerian corridor.
Africhange allows its users to send money along more than 100 corridors in Europe, Asia, the Americas, and Africa – in different major currencies. The platform also intends to introduce a program called ‘Afripoints’ which would reward users with discounts on transactions after sending or receiving money. The plans to expand into the UK have set in motion Africhange’s intention to break into new African markets later this year – with Kenya and Ghana being on the focus. “Africhange’s entry into the UK market represents a significant milestone in our mission to deliver the best possible global payment experience for Africans in diaspora,” David Ajala, founder and CEO of Africhange, said.
The platform has been instrumental for international students who need a reliable platform for global payments. The discounts on rates that Africhange has offered them makes transactions less costly and convenient.
“Despite the significant inflows of remittance to the continent, the cost of sending money means a significant percentage of those funds don’t get to the recipients and we want to change that,” Ajala said.
Since its foundation in 2020, the platform has grown because of its ability to identify gaps within the global transaction system. By prioritizing seamless operations in its incipient markets, the company can easily spread its customer base in new markets without experiencing loftier challenges. According to its website, Africhange is currently present in Nigeria, Kenya, Canada, Ghana, and Australia.
“We have big plans and we are looking forward to expanding our services, reaching more customers and ensuring that everyone can benefit from seamless and cost-effective international money transfers,” he concluded.
