Weatherman Lists Counties to Experience Very Cold Nights & Hot Days Over Next 7 Days
The Kenya Meteorological Department on Tuesday urged Kenyans to brace for extremely cold nights and hot days for the next seven days starting September 10 through to September 16.
In a weather forecast, Kenya Met Director David Gikungu told Kenyans to prepare for night temperatures of below 10°C and hot daytime temperatures of up to 30°C.
According to Gikungu, low night-time temperatures of up to 10°C would be experienced in the Central Highlands, Central and South Rift Valley and South-Eastern Lowlands.
Among counties to experience such temperatures include; Nairobi, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu and Tharaka Nithi.

Other counties projected to experience similar weather patterns include; Kisii, Nyamira, Nandi, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Busia and Migori.
In his weekly weather advisory, Gikungu disclosed that night temperatures in the above regions would fluctuate between 10°C and 11°C.
Similarly, high daytime temperatures exceeding 30°C were forecasted to be experienced in the South Rift Valley, Coast, Western, North-Eastern, and North-western Kenya.
The counties forecasted to experience hot days include; Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, Isiolo, Turkana and Samburu.
The weather department further revealed that moderate rains were expected in parts of the Central Highlands, Western Kenya, Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin and the Coast.
“Sunny intervals are expected in the mornings. Afternoon showers and thunderstorms are likely to occur over a few places. Nights are expected to be partly cloudy though light showers may occur over a few places,” the weatherman announced.
However, most parts of the country were expected to experience generally sunny and dry conditions.
“Stay informed and take necessary precautions as weather conditions vary across the country,” Gikungu cautioned.
