What Happened to Your God? Sabina Chege Blasts Kenya Kwanza for Changing Tune

Nominated MP Sabina Chege has put the Kenya Kwanza government on blast for backtracking on its campaign promises.

Speaking on Spice FM on Thursday morning, the former Murang’a Woman Representative fell short of labelling Kenya Kwanza hypocrites for changing their stance after presenting themselves as religious people during the campaign period, which in her opinion, they have since abandoned.

According to the politician who claims to be the Jubilee Party Secretary General, the religious stance seems to have been taken over by calculated political games as the current government moves to shore up its support.

She accused them of putting down the Bible, saying, “What happened to your God that you so much believed in that gave you all the solutions?”

The Kenya Kwanza government’s campaigns were often riddled with religious undertones. United Democratic Alliance (UDA) politicians started every conversation with ‘Praise God’ according to Chege.

The conversation which was initially to discuss the state of politics in Mount Kenya region inevitably circled back to Ruto’s administration and how much of his manifesto promises during campaigns have been met.

Chege however noted that most of the problems President Ruto is experiencing could be as a result of being too involved in each and every project launch and thus ending up interacting with the public more often than his predecessors.

Ruto has made more trips to Mt. Kenya than his predecessor with Chege noting that President Ruto is always interacting with excited  members of the public which ends up piling pressure to deliver.

“I think with our current President, he seems to be the one making decisions, the one going to the ground to launch projects, and the one convincing people.” Sabina Chege noted.

In order to curb this problem, Chege urged the president to stop interacting with the public as if he is still on campaign mode.

She advised him to have a team that will help him handle issues in the grassroots regions consisting of people with established rapport with the locals and be left to make major decisions as befits a president.

“Let the Cabinet Secretaries go and launch those projects, and let the Principal Secretaries conduct the feasibility studies. Let him focus on higher-level responsibilities, chair the Cabinet, and take time off.”

She also believes that if he continues with the pace he is in, he will end up burnt out. Chege also believes Ruto could then make uninformed decisions which Chege believes could end up costing the Head of State reelection especially now that young people are focusing more on issues having moved away from tribal politics.
