Member of the Wajir County Assembly (MCA) Yussuf Ahmed, who went missing on September 13, 2024, following an alleged abduction in Nairobi by unknown individuals, has been found.
The Della Ward MCA was found in critical condition inside a hospital in Uriri Constituency in Migori County, hundreds of kilometers away from his last seen location.
During the incident, the MCA was reported to have been abducted by unknown assailants on Enterprise Road in Makadara Constituency, on Friday at 9 pm using a Landcruiser Prado and since then, his whereabouts remained unknown until Sunday afternoon.
Eldas Constituency Member of Parliament Adan Keynan, who on Sunday revealed that as leaders together with the family of the missing MCA, they had tried every effort to locate the MCA with the help of the police but with no success, reported the news of his location.

”I have spoken to the OCPD Uriri Police Station, John Odhiambo, who has confirmed that the MCA is lying unconsciously in the hospital,” Keynan revealed.
Keynan revealed that they were already making arrangements to have the MCA transferred to another facility to give him better treatment.
”We are making arrangements to bring him to the hospital. This offers a glimmer of hope amid the anxious uncertainty surrounding his disappearance. As we hope for the best, we pray that this will mark a positive turn for the safe return of the MCA,” added the lawmaker.
Earlier, Wajir County Assembly Members had issued a lashing statement demanding the release of their colleague whom they argued was being held by the abductors contrary to the law.
The MCAs also maintained that they had not received any official communication or statement regarding the arrest of Ahmed.
‘’The identity and reasons for his abduction are unknown. Similarly, we are not privy to any ongoing investigation or statement recorded by the Hon Member or any criminal offense committed by him.,’ the MCAs shared in a statement.
The MCAs called on the police to release the MCA in the event that they could be holding him, terming such a violation of the law. They also challenged the police in the event they were not holding to do a quick investigation to unravel the whereabouts of the MCA.
‘’Similarly, if the abductors are not security personnel, it is important that the police carry out a thorough and urgent investigation into the abduction,’’ the statement added.
Incidents of forced abductions have in the last few months been on the rise following the anti-government protests that were witnessed in Nairobi, with many Kenyans reportedly abducted from their homes and on the streets. However, security agencies have been giving mixed responses in regard to the disappearances.
