Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi on Monday warned public transport operators flaunting laid-out rules in the transport sector to shape up.
The CS called out transport operators to conduct their businesses with discipline, mindful that they are dealing with human beings.
“First of all, public transport we want self-discipline in your work,” he directed.
Mbadi sent the warning citing a report done by a task force constituted by the former Cabinet Secretary of National Treasury and Economic Planning to investigate and find solutions on how to streamline public transport.

According to the report findings, players in public transport need to exercise discipline while serving passengers.
The CS revealed that there are several measures put forward by the commission aimed at helping to streamline the public transport sector.
“There is a raft of recommendations which I will liaise with my colleagues, especially in Interior and Transport, so that we can see how we can bring discipline and order the way the late John Michuki left Public Transport,” he added.
The transport sector has in the recent past been on the spot over incidents of abuse by rogue touts mishandling passengers.
A huge percentage of accidents involve public service vehicles because of failure to observe road safety rules.
Among things the CS wanted the public transport sector to reinforce was ensuring vehicles are serviced regularly with operators getting necessary insurance policies for their passengers in case of accidents.
Though privately run by segmented operators, public transport in Kenya directly contributes 8.3 per cent of the total Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
