Public Health and Professional Standards Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni on Thursday announced the passing away of her dad Philip Miriuki Ngari.
In a post, the PS communicated that her father had been ailing for the past few months leading to his eventual demise.
‘’I’m writing to share some sorrowful news. Some of you may recall that my father had been gravely ill and was in hospital for the last couple of months. We managed to bring him home, though he necessitated constant oxygen,’’ the PS shared.
The PS while sharing the tragic news revealed that she had spent time with her father on Wednesday evening before his untimely death.

‘’I regret to inform, he has sadly passed away. Yesterday evening I spent some time with him, unaware that it would be my last occasion seeing him alive. May you rest in peace papa,’’ she added.
Having received the sad news, other leaders sent in their condolences through their social media accounts.
Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru who is also the Chairperson of the Council of Governors sent the PS a comforting message while sharing her emotional support for her.
‘’I send my deepest condolences to my dear friend and sister, PS Muthoni , on the loss of her father, Mr. Phillip Muriuki Ngari. No words can truly capture the heartache of losing a parent, and I share in your sorrow during this incredibly difficult time,’’
‘’May the Lord’s peace comfort you, and may you find strength in the love of family and friends. Rest in peace, Mzee Phillip,’’ she added.
Muriuki passed away on Wednesday evening in Kirinyaga County after a long illness according to information from the family.
Muthoni’s family was yet to release a statement on the next arrangements in regards to the passing of their father.
Muthoni who has been serving as the Public Health and Professional Standards PS has been very instrumental to the government playing a key role in the roll out the new health insurance scheme, the Social Health Insurance Fund(SHIF).
